Alan Donald James Macfarlane là giáo sư của Đại học Cambridge, tiến sĩ chuyên ngành sử học hiện đại - modern history (năm 1967), tiến sĩ chuyên ngành nhân loại học - anthropology (năm 1972). GS. Macfarlane không phải là một nhà luật học, nhưng ông lại có nhiều bài viết, bài phỏng vấn, công trình nghiên cứu liên quan đến lịch sử luật pháp rất có giá trị. Dưới đây là một bài phỏng vấn GS.
